Materion AlBeCast® 910
This is a ternary Be-Al-Ni alloy that Materion developed and patented*. It has a high specific modulus, good ductility and reasonably good strength. The addition of the Ni to the Be-Al alloy reduces the alloy's thermal expansion coefficient and increases tensile properties. Ni also causes the Be to absorb x-rays to roughly the same degree as Al. As a result castings, made from 910, can be readily inspected by x-ray. This alloy is also relatively low-cost.
