MX01 is a steel grade especially developed to achieve specific properties useful to minimize operating cost of forging dies.

First of all, the chemical balance of MX01 is designed to improve the softening resistance of dies during hot forging. By maintaining high mechanical properties at high temperature it will help to reduce wear and deformation on dies and keep dimensional tolerance on forged pieces.

Hardness and mechanical properties are very consistent throughout dies even in the centre of heavy blocks, thanks to Boron addition ensuring an efficient thru hardening.

Toughness is also a strong point of MX01. This property is linked also to the chemistry of the grade ensuring a fine distribution of carbides in the matrix. Toughness will provide a good resistance to all phenomena such as chipping, cracking or even failures on the die in hot condition but also during calibration at room temperature.
