CarTech No. 345 is a chromium-molybdenum-tungsten hot work steel which should be considered for use in applications which require extreme toughness and good red hardness at operating temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C). CarTech No. 345 has been widely used for aluminum extrusion work because it resists upsetting or deformation - especially in tongues occurring in many extrusion dies.

Applications:
CarTech No. 345 has been used in such applications as aluminum extrusion dies, die holders, dummy blocks, rams, bulldozer dies, forging dies exposed to shock, heavy-duty compression tools, hot forging tools with deep recesses and sharp corners, die-casting dies, bolt dies, hot piercing and forming punches.
