CarTech No. 5-F stainless, a modification of CarTech 416 stainless, is designed for optimum machinability with corrosion resistance. Having a specially balanced composition, this grade is essentially non hardenable. For best machinability, it is normally furnished in the annealed and cold-finished condition. It may be considered for all screw machine applications, particularly those involving intricate machining operations or where superior finishes are required as-machined.

Uses have included valve trim, fuel nozzles, carburetor needles, studs and many other automatic screw machine parts.

CarTech No. 5-F stainless is normally furnished at a hardness of approximately 200 Brinell. CarTech 416 Project 70®+ or CarTech No. 5BQ should be considered for parts which are to be heat treated to higher hardness.
