Finkl Mold Die®
Mold Die Lens Quality has proven itself in especially demanding applications such as lenses and high quality optical molds and dies.
Finkl Mold Die Lens Quality is ALWAYS forged with a minimum of 5 to 1 reduction. It is forged utilizing wide die techniques which assure consolidated centers and fine grain structure, resulting in improved properties through-out. It is sold in the pre-hardened condition, with a hardness of approximately 300 Brinell (32 HRc).
Finkl Mold Die Lens Quality is produced by the patented Double Vacuum Process, which consists of Vacuum Arc Degassing followed by Vacuum Arc Remelting. This is the ONLY process that can produce steels with minimum sulfur as well as minimum hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen content. This process provides steel with the optimum combination of cleanliness, refined structure, strength, and isotropic properties—the ideal material for high-performance dies and molds.
Finkl Mold Die Lens Quality is 100% ultrasonically tested according to the most rigorous standards. It is fully warranted for molds and dies.
