CarTech® Hipernom® Alloy
This material is provided with the correct temper to permit users to perform a variety of cold forming operations. It can be fabricated into shields by roll forming, spinning, deep drawing, hydroforming and other conventional sheet metal operations. Where joining is required, spot welding or tungsten inert gas welding-with or without a base metal filler rod-can be used.
To develop best shielding characteristics, shields must be annealed at 1900°F (1040°C) or higher after all other fabricating operations have been completed. In general, higher annealing temperatures yield higher attenuation and permeability as well as better shielding characteristics.
CarTech Hipernom alloy is available in sheet form 30" x 120" (76 x 305 cm) by various thicknesses.
Applications:
CarTech Hipernom alloy has been used primarily in shielding applications to protect electrical equipment from stray magnetic fields.
