CarTech® Pyrotool® Alloy A

Generic Family: Steel - Wrought - Tool SteelSupplied by: Carpenter Technology Corporation
CarTech Pyrotool alloy A is a austenitic precipitation hardenable iron-base alloy designed to display high strength and good ductility at temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C).

To achieve the best combination of hardness and toughness for tooling applications, CarTech Pyrotool alloy A is annealed and solution treated simultaneously at 1650°F (899°C) for two hours, then oil quenched. It is then aged at 1300°F (704°C) for sixteen hours and air cooled followed by aging at 1200°F (649°C) for eight hours and air cooled.

CarTech Pyrotool alloy A, when aged, attains a hardness of Rockwell C 30/35.
