CarTech EnduraMet 33 stainless is a high-manganese, nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless steel that provides substantially higher yield and tensile strengths than Type 304 and has general-corrosion resistance between that of Type 430 and Type 304 stainless. The corrosion resistance of CarTech EnduraMet 33 approaches that of Type 304 in some environments. It can be welded, machined and cold worked using the same equipment and methods used for the conventional 300 series austenitic stainless steels. The alloy is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition and remains nonmagnetic after cold working to high-strength levels. CarTech EnduraMet 33 provides an excellent combination of toughness, ductility, strength, corrosion resistance and fabricability.

In the hot rolled unannealed condition, yield strengths of 75 ksi (518 MPa) or higher can be achieved for bar diameters up to 1.375 in (34.925 mm).

Applications:
Rebar has been a primary application for CarTech EnduraMet 33 stainless. Specific rebar applications have included bridge decks, barrier and retaining walls, anchoring systems, chemical plant infrastructure, coastal piers and wharves, bridge parapets, sidewalks, and bridge pilings. Because of its low magnetic permeability, CarTech EnduraMet 33 has been used in concrete rebar applications in close proximity to sensitive electronic devices and magnetic resonance medical equipment. The higher strength capability, 75 ksi (518 MPa) minimum yield strength, of CarTech EnduraMet 33 is an added economical advantage.

CarTech EnduraMet 33 stainless has been used for applications where corrosion resistance approaching Type 304 is adequate but where the strength or magnetic permeability to Type 304, after cold working, is unsuitable. CarTech EnduraMet 33 has been used in such applications as weld studs, self-tapping screws, industrial screens, springs, wire products, antenna, cables, pole line hardware, worm screws, and pump shafts.
