Shelldie is one of our finest Hot Work Steels in low carbon, high chromium, high molybdenum group. It exhibits unusual resistance to impact, abrasion, and heat effects. It has proved highly resistant to washing and checking because it retains high hardness at elevated temperatures. Shelldie die may be cooled with water or other coolants without danger of cracking,checking or spalling. Special machining quality makes it commercialy possible to sink blocks as hard as 429HB (BHN)
