LPW 7050

Generic Family: Aluminum - Powder Metal - Al-Zn AlloySupplied by: LPW Technology Ltd.
Metal Powders:

LPW has developed an optimised range of metal powders specifically for Selective Laser Melting (SLM), Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM).

To take additive manufacturing from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacture the powder supply chain must be revolutionised. LPW is at the forefront of this change. Standard powders are supplied from stock, adding value through excellent service and quality products that offer our customers fast delivery and cost effective solutions. Our objective is to help the industrial user control their material costs, increase the range of alloys available and ensure quality and traceability meet the requirements of aerospace and medical component manufacturers.

We offer a complete range of Aluminium, Cobalt, Nickel, Steel, Titanium and Tungsten Carbide alloy powders. For SLM and EBM we recommend gas or plasma atomised powders. For LMD we recommend gas, centrifugal, or plasma atomised powders. Our powders are optimised for the machines of all of the major manufacturers.

LPW's focus is you - the customer. We will work with you to select the powder most suitable for your application - balancing method of manufacture, powder specification, quality, and cost. However, on request novel sizes and chemistries can be offered to satisfy your requirements. Custom alloys can be provided by the customer or developed in association with LPW's technical team. Quality is ensured by strictly adhering to ISO 9001 and AS 9120 certified procedures.

Technical Considerations:
  • All powder is supplied with a certificate of conformance that contains test data for chemistry and sizing. All chemical data is generated at an independent ISO 17025 certified laboratory.
  • In addition to certificates of conformance, we can offer enhanced testing reports. Internal characterisation includes Hall Flow, Angle of Repose, Tap Density, Apparent Density, morphology by Scanning Electron Microscopy, entrapped porosity by Scanning Electron or Optical Microscopy, Laser Size Diffraction, Sieve Analysis, and moisture determination by Thermogravitational Analysis. External characterisation includes chemical composition by an NADCAP certified laboratory and flow by Rheology.
  • As standard, powders are packaged in HDPE containers chosen for robustness and resistance to moisture ingress. SLM and EBM powders are packed with silica gel sachets. Titanium alloys are packed under Argon; all other alloys are packed under normal air atmosphere. If requested, we can pack any material under Argon.
