JM Noble Metals Rhodium
As the bulk metal, rhodium is mostly used as an alloying agent to harden platinum. Such alloys are used as furnace windings, thermocouple elements and to make bushings for glass fibre production. It is a useful electrical contact material due to its low electrical resistance, low and stable contact resistance and it is highly resistant to corrosion. Pure rhodium is supplied for use as radiation sensors, and rhodium alloys are also used for catalyst applications, such as catalytic converters for internal combustion engines.
Johnson Matthey has extensive experience in manufacturing flawless foils for use in mammography x-ray machines in a purpose built ‘clean-room' facility at Royston, England. Foils can be supplied individually or as sub assemblies and with digital images upon request.
Electroplating or vacuum deposition of rhodium produces a highly reflective and an exceptionally hard and durable surface, which is suitable for use in optical instruments and as a coating for jewellery products.
