Finkl ShelleX™
ShelleX™ is well suited for die inserts and press forging dies, tooling for the aluminum, zinc, and magnesium die casting industry, for cores, sleeves, and slides, and for certain plastic injection and transfer molds.
HOT STRENGTH
ShelleX™ exhibits higher strength and surface hardness at room temperature than H13 and H11 type alloys when tempered at identical tempering temperatures. ShelleX™ also resists softening at elevated operating temperatures better than H13 and H11(see figure). The high temperature strength and tempering resistance, in conjunction with its heat checking resistance, enables ShelleX™ to achieve increased production quantities before maintenance is required.
Finkl ShelleX™ is ALWAYS forged with a minimum of 5 to 1 reduction. It is sold in the hardened condition, ready for use, or in the annealed condition.
Finkl ShelleX™ is forged utilizing wide die techniques which assure consolidated centers and fine grain structure, resulting in improved properties throughout.
Finkl ShelleX™ is 100% ultrasonically tested according to the most rigorous standards. It is fully warranted for dies and molds.
