Schmolz + Bickenbach 2205

Generic Family: Steel - Wrought - Stainless - DuplexSupplied by: Schmolz + Bickenbach
Description
  • Ugitech's 2205 is a high strength, highly corrosion resistant duplex stainless steel with a 22% Cr, 5% Ni and 3% Mo composition available as UNS S31803 or the dual certified UNS S31803/S32205. The main difference between dual certified S32205 and S31830 is the increased corrosion resistance of the S32205 due to the tighter chemistry. The combination of high strength and high corrosion resistance makes Ugitech 2205 an ideal candidate for a variety of applications. It is chemically balanced to provide a ferrite + austenite structure containing between 40 and 60% ferrite after solution annealing.
  • Ugitech 2205 duplex stainless has about a 150% increase in strength with over twice the annealed yield strength of an austenitic grade such as 304L or 316L. Ugitech 2205 possesses superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance to 316L, as well as offering improved stress corrosion cracking.
  • Ugitech 2205 is sensitive to the precipitation of inter-metallic phases that will degrade mechanical properties Sigma (s) phase precipitates can form after only a few dozen minutes. The a' precipitate phase also presents risk of embrittlement .
  • Ugitech's 2205 delivers heat to heat consistency that is unsurpassed in the industry. Once an optimum set-up has been established, machinists can take advantage of increased machine efficiency rates and the ability to run "lights out production". Also, crashes due to hard spots are a thing of the past. 2205 can provide a significant competitive advantage for shops that demand efficient, high volume and reliable production.
